Hosts of The Rundown

Crystal Froese is a Moose Javian with deep roots in the community she calls home. Born and raised in the city, she spent 15 years in British Columbia where she founded a communications management company and partnered with her husband Kirby in an award-winning winery. After returning to Moose Jaw in 2011, the couple built Coteau Hills Creamery — the city’s first artisan cheese manufacturing facility.

Crystal’s public service career spans over a decade. She was elected to Moose Jaw City Council in 2016 and served two terms. Elected as a Prairie South School Board Trustee in 2020. During this time she served on ten boards and committees, including the Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee, Heritage Advisory Committee, Tourism Moose Jaw, and the Wakamow Valley Authority. As Chair of the Moose Jaw Police Commission, she championed community safety — advocating for additional officers, the Police and Crisis Team, and internet child exploitation investigations. She ran for mayor twice, finishing just 41 votes short in the 2021 byelection.

With her background in communications, event management, and a University of Regina education in local government administration and public relations, Crystal brings an informed, connected perspective to The Rundown. She knows how the city works, who’s making the decisions, and why it matters to you. Learn more at www.crystalfroese.com

Gordon Edgar is a writer and podcaster based in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Originally from Halifax, NS, Gordon moved to the city when his wife, a sergeant in the Canadian Armed Forces, was posted to 15 Wing.

He got his start in the city as a news reporter for two and a half years at the Moose Jaw Express newspaper/MooseJawToday.com, Moose Jaw’s only print publication. He then spent a further two years at Discover Moose Jaw News, again as a reporter, this time adding an audio component, including podcasting and reading the afternoon newscast for the city’s three radio stations.

Gordon has covered every beat: From cultural happenings to city council drama, important provincial legislative decisions, local artists holding their first exhibition, from infrastructure to the Tunnels, local businesses, charitable organizations, and history from the city’s founding to the present, Gordon wryly notes that he now knows Moose Jaw better than his own hometown.

As co-host and producer of The Rundown, Gordon handles the technical side — from website and podcast production to episode editing — and brings a knack for insightful questions, research background, and solutions-oriented journalism to the show. He earned his undergrad from Dalhousie in English and Psychology.
